Being Good
As Soren and Gressa and I walk into Target, and I’m giving the reminder spiel about manners and behavior in the store, Soren stops dead in his tracks, looks seriously at me, and says: “Mom. God made me sinful right? Then I’m not gonna promise I’ll be good in the store today.” NICE TRY! — Jamaica, WI, Soren age 6, Gressa age 4

Knowledge is King
John has a mind for comprehending more than what a child his age should. It’s a gift and a curse all at the same time. We were delivering a meal to a mom living close by. She was recovering from breast cancer. My middle child asked “Why are we taking her dinner?” I responded “She’s sick and this way she doesn’t have to worry about cooking dinner for her family tonight. She can rest.” This answer was good enough for Jaden. But John had to drill down more “What is she sick with?” Each answer I gave him, the questions being shot back to me were even more detailed. “Why do the abnormal cells destroy normal body tissue?” In my frustration, I finally told him I didn’t know; I wasn’t a doctor. He said “that’s okay mommy. When we get home you can Google it and let me know.” — Jen W., AZ, John age 5

Answered Prayer
Our truck was stalled while camping in the middle of the desert on a Sunday. Sommerly put her hands together to pray and with one last attempt to start the engine, my husband got it working. I then told her that her prayer was answered! Shannon asked how she knew that God answered her and Sommerly replied, “I feel God like the breeze blowing across my face” — Kelly, AZ, Sommerly age 5, Shannon age 3

Beauty is More than Skin Deep
Rachael and I were in the airport waiting for a plane to arrive when she stops me and says, “Look, Mom! That woman is so beautiful!” I start looking around for a tall, slender “model” type woman when Rachael tugs at my arm and says, “Over there.” What I see that she is pointing at is an elderly wheelchair bound woman who must have been in her mid-eighties and was very beautiful. Every time I think of this story, it brings tears to my eyes. — Tina, AZ, Rachael age 5
